RapidIO Technical Training

RapidIOŽ is a high-speed, robust, and scaleable protocol that has been designed to meet the high demands of embedded system developers around the globe.  The RapidIOŽ Trade Association (RTA) and its members are committed to ensuring that tomorrows needs will continue to be addressed by RapidIO and so the specifications continue to evolve adding new capabilities while remaining backward compatible.

While the layered and modular architecture of RapidIO facilitates this continuing evolution, there remains a need to help keep the embedded community current on what RapidIO is today, and where it is going.

To that end, Fabric Embedded Tools, a long time member of the RTA, and provider of RapidIO Interoperability test services through RIOLAB, and network management and design tools, offers a 1-Day training course for RapidIO.

Training Course Outline (1 Day)

This RapidIO training course offered by Fabric Embedded Tools Corporation (FET) is based on the RapidIO 1.3, 2.0 and 2.1 Specifications. It is intended to provide the student with a good fundamental knowledge of what RapidIO is, and how it works.

It begins with a high level introductory overview to help those new to RapidIO to come up to speed before addressing lower levels of the RapidIO protocol. The course also addresses more technical aspects of the physical, transport and logical layers including topics such as 8B10B encoding, scrambling, packet formats, virtual channels, flow control, and data streaming.

Given it is only a 1-day course, it cannot necessarily cover all aspects of the RapidIO protocol and it should never be considered a replacement for the specification itself.  The intention is to focus on providing the student with a practical knowledge of RapidIO.

FET also offers a 1-day course on RapidFET Network Management and Diagnostic Tools as a practical tutorial on RapidIO discovery, system/device diagnostics, validating system performance and much more. This can be provided as a follow on to the RapidIO Training course as a complementary, hands on practical demonstration of RapidIO in action.
