- Description:
- The IDT pre-processing switch for DSP clusters is optimized for wireless baseband processing applications and supports the Serial RapidIOŽ interconnect specifications. The pre-processing switch solution integrates a suite of byte and packet-level manipulation capabilities designed to offload bandwidth intensive tasks from digital signal processors. The result can be an acceleration of each DSP in a cluster by up to 20%, enabling the DSPs to focus on other compute-intensive functions in wireless base stations, RNC, and media gateway applications, and providing a platform for scalable, flexible and cost-effective customer solutions.
Features and Benefits
- Optimized as board-level switching solution, supporting tailored distribution of data to multiple DSPs
- Offload simple data manipulation tasks in order to maximize efficiency of DSP operations
- Distribution of processed data via unicast, multicast, or broadcast operations
- 40 SRIO links v1.3, configurable to support up to 22 SRIO 1x ports or 10 4x ports (or multiple combinations); selectable port speeds up to 3.125 Gbps
- Scalable to address wide range of wireless and non-wireless apps
- Each port's speed, width, and reach can be independently configured
- By offloading the DSP/CRP from 'low value' or 'duplicated' tasks, reduce their cycles by 20 percent or more
- Supported operations:
- Aligning sample lengths
- Re-sequencing samples within packets
- Endian conversions (MSB <=> LSB)
- Mux or Demuxing packets
- Summation of multiple packets
- Multicasting packets
- Placing samples into separate specific locations in the memory (DMA)
Pricing and Availability
The IDT 70K2000BR pre-processing switch is available in a 676-ball BGA (27mm x 27mm 1.0mm pitch) flip-chip package, which is RoHS compliant. For additional product information on the IDT PPS, visit www.IDT.com.
