Description:
The Tundra Tsi576 is part of Tundras third-generation RapidIOŽ switch family. Supporting 40 Gb/s aggregate bandwidth, the Tsi576 enables customers to develop high-performance systems at low cost. The Tsi576 is targeted at chip-to-chip DSP and processor aggregation and connection to network/backplane uplinks.

Using the Tsi576 flexible port configurations, designers can select multiple port width and speed options. The Tsi576 can be configured as a twelve-port x1 switch or a two-port x4 plus eight x1-port switch (or various combinations of x1 and x4). In the eight plus two configuration, the two-port x4 are used to aggregate traffic from local DSP or processor clusters serviced by the up to eight x1-ports.

Each of the ports can be run at 1.25 Gbaud, 2.5 Gbaud or 3.125 Gbaud.

Building on the industry-leading Tsi564A Serial RapidIO Switch, the Tsi576 contains all the benefits of its predecessor plus the switch enhances the fabric switching capabilities through the addition of:

multicast,
traffic management through scheduling algorithms,
programmable buffer depth, and
fabric performance monitoring to supervise and manage traffic flow.
Embedded applications further benefit from the ability to route packets to over 64,000 RapidIO endpoints through per port hierarchical lookup tables, independent unicast and multicast routing mechanisms, and error management extensions that provide proactive issue notification to the fabric controller.

The Tsi576 supports both in-band serial RapidIO access to registers or out-of-band access to the full fabric register set through the I2C interface.
