- Description:
- Enea Embedded Technology provides a complete framework for the implementation of reliable and efficient real-time systems from memory constrained, single CPU systems to large, multi-core/multi-CPU distributed systems. Enea develops and distributes the OSE family of real-time operating systems and development tools.
Originally developed for the telecommunications industry as a platform for delivering critical communications services, OSE has been used in millions of products worldwide for over 14 years. Enea's OSE RTOS can be found everywhere: in approximately half the worlds base stations, in the smartest feature phones and cell phones, cutting edge automotive platforms and a full spectrum of medical and safety critical devices. System designers focusing on reliability, scalability, and simplicity are increasingly making OSE their platform of choice.
The OSE RTOS supports many popular architectures including 32-bit, 16-bit and DSPs. OSE provides an integrated off-the-shelf platform, a full system suite of software development tools and a rich set of operating system accessories to form a complete fault tolerant platform for embedded computing.
OSE is designed from start with multi-processor systems in mind, and RapidIO only further enhances OSE's posture here. Enea first introduced RapidIO support in its parallel version for the PowerQuick III processors. With the serial version of RapidIO the scope of this technology spreads beyond the connectivity of CPUs and peripherals on a single board. Serial RapidIO connects boards using an AdvancedTCA back plane as well as daughter cards connected via carrier cards. As the number of processors in these systems grows, the OSE technology allowing transparent and high-performance distribution becomes a key element in building a reliable system. Enea is now porting its LINK technology to ATCA platform AMC modules, including a number DSP AMC modules using both serial and parallel RapidIO.
Enea continues to make substantial contributions to the RapidIO interconnect technology, being a sponsoring member of the RapidIO Trade Association. High-performance distributed systems that require fault tolerance and high availability can leverage Enea's established RTOS while taking advantage of RapidIOs unique features.
