RapidIO Connections - January 2003
Marketing Working Group Update
RapidIO a look back at 2002, and a peak forward to 2003
RapidIO continues to develop momentum in the embedded community as the high-performance, packet switched interconnect technology. Furthering our, trade association members are developing IP, standard products, and platforms to demonstrate working systems.
Throughout 2002, RapidIO members launched working silicon, system enablers, and interoperability platforms. Demonstrations of these solutions came from companies like Agilent, Altera, Tektronix, Spectrum Signal Processing, Tundra and Xilinx. We also saw product disclosures foreshadowing 2003 solutions from Intrinsity, Leopard Logic, Motorola, RedSwitch, and others.
With real demonstrations of shipping solutions, RapidIO is gaining momentum in the marketplace each passing day. Expect 2003 to be a year of extensive support, adoption, and system implementation.
Get Info on RapidIO Products
We've had excellent user reaction to the recent changes to our web site and now the new RapidIO Product Search is on-line at:
www.rapidio.org/kshowcase/view/
This page showcases RapidIO-centric products and gives that all-important new visitor instant visibility into the world of real RapidIO solutions. Not only is the list of active vendors presented right up front, but the search utility allows one to browse the offering by product category. Vendors now have a place on www.RapidIO.org to introduce themselves more thoroughly and to show their wares, complete with illustrations if they choose.
We've spoken with many members, via our mailing lists, to explain our notion that the Product Search is an effective and, to members, free way to attract attention to their products. If you have products of interest to system architects and designers in the high speed interconnect arena, this is a great way to expose them to a select audience, who visit us thousands of times each month.
It will benefit both the Membership and the Trade Association if each of us can carry the message forward. You might want to browse the product search pages and see how others have chosen to use it. The Trade Association works closely with members to craft product entries and needs only the basics (company profile, text and graphics for the product entries) to set up your entry. And did we mention, it's free!
How You Can Support the RapidIO Marketing Efforts
Reporting to the RapidIO Steering Committee, the Marketing Working Group is the communications arm of the trade association. MWG activities include creation and maintenance of the Web site, branding, press relations, tradeshow exhibits, conference presentations and marketing collateral. Once again, we'd like to remind you that there is ample work - and marketing opportunities -- for the companies that are involved. To find out more, contact Kalpesh Gala (Kalpesh.Gala@RapidIO.org), MWG Chair at IBM Microelectronics.
