RapidIO Reflections: Significant interest in RapidIO technology from a wide cross section of customers

RapidIO Reflections - Readers Offer Their Perspectives

“We are seeing significant interest in RapidIO® technology from a wide cross section of potential customers who range from medical imaging, semiconductor manufacturing and wireless infrastructure to benign and rugged Mil/Aero applications. These potential customers are looking to RapidIO technology because it solves otherwise challenging technical obstacles in terms of distributed, scalable systems. Despite this traction, RapidIO technology is currently gated by readily available silicon and board level products. This tide appears to be changing as we see a large number of products just entering the market and many more expected throughout 2006. However, for RapidIO technology to realize its full potential we feel there needs to be more plug fests and industry sponsored product interoperability forums to properly demonstrate RapidIO technology’s full capabilities to the embedded community.”
