A Message from the RapidIOŽ Steering Committee Chair

I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself, Dave Wickliff, the new Chairman of the Steering Committee for the RapidIO Trade Association. Having participated in the RapidIO Trade Association since its inception in 2000, it is quite clear that the success of this organization comes directly from the diversity and technical depth of its members. Comprised of suppliers, customers, competitors, partners, and other successful organizations dedicated to excellence in technology and in their business, the RapidIO Trade Association boasts some of the brightest minds in the industry, all focused on driving the RapidIO standard as the one and only standard for chip-to-chip and board-to-board connectivity. I feel privileged to take on the task of fostering this incredible environment and championing this diversity and depth into the RapidIO Trade Association's future success.

As I embrace this role, I find an exceptionally strong and vibrant association due in no small part to our previous chairman, Dan Bouvier. Dan's leadership brought the RapidIO Trade Association from its initial formation through significant milestones to where we find ourselves today — the stewards of a mature, established industry standard. Thank you Dan, we will miss you and wish you good fortune in your future endeavors.

With numerous introductions of RapidIO-enabled products, it is clear to me that the RapidIO Trade Association and its members have demonstrated success: from the organizational formation, through the development and completion of specifications, to the emergence of real products. It is now time to take this successful organization and focus our efforts on addressing the many opportunities that lay before us. The RapidIO standard is truly a technology developed by the embedded community and for the embedded community. It is a technology designed to solve the embedded community's morphing challenges today and well into our future.

It is with pride I encourage you all to keep up the good work and offer my assistance as Steering Committee Chair in any way it is needed.
