RapidIO® Trade Association Has Pervasive Presence in Fall Industry Events

Citing a significant increase in interest from attendees, event organizers have sought out the RapidIO Trade Association and its members as conference speakers and exhibitors – from the Network Systems Design Conference to the First Annual AdvancedTCA Summit.

  • RapidIO at NSDC: The RapidIO Trade Association had a significant presence at the Network Systems Design Conference 2005 to be held at Parkside Hall in San Jose, Calif., at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on October 18-20, 2005. In addition, a technology demonstration in Booth #205, the RapidIO Trade Association will provide the RapidIO Fabric Quick-Start Tutorial, a four-part program including a RapidIO Standard Introduction and Technical Review, Interconnect Technology Comparisons, Software Considerations in RapidIO-based Designs, and Real-World Designs with RapidIO Technology.
    • RapidIO technology has been heralded as the best-of-breed standard defining intra-system connectivity for high-performance embedded systems in networking, communications and storage markets. It provides the hardware infrastructure that enables development of distributed systems and offers a level of reliability, interoperability and traffic management not available in competing implementations. The RapidIO Tutorial is replete with technical content and implementation details to help communications equipment designers, systems analysts and integrators, marketing and engineering managers, consultants, design specialists, design service providers, software and hardware support providers, and test engineers to gain valuable information as they move forward with next-generation designs. Held October 18th beginning at 8:30 a.m., the tutorial will be presented by Ian Dunn of Mercury Computer, Greg Shippen of Freescale Semiconductor, and Sebastien Marineau of QNX Software Systems.

    • In addition, RapidIO technology will be represented in a variety of sessions beginning October 19th at 2:30 p.m. with Bus Wars - Which Interconnect Is Best for Networking Equipment, Why, and When?; and continuing October 20th at 10:30 a.m. with HyperTransport, RapidIO, and PCI Express, at 1:30 p.m. with Switch Fabric Directions by AMCC, and concluding with the CTO Roundtable at 3:45 p.m.

  • Freescale Technology Forums: The RapidIO Trade Association has been an active participant in these events and will be participating in Munich on October 18 and 19 at Kempinski Hotel Airport Munich. These technology forums feature RapidIO technical content, including technology demonstrations and breakout sessions. For more information, visit http://www.freescale.com/ftf.

  • GSPx: The RapidIO Trade Association, a supporting organization, will be participating in the educational forums and on the exhibit floor in Booth 125 at GSPx 2005 to be held October 24 -27 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif.
    • "RapidIO was designed to optimally support the unique system connectivity of high-performance SoCs, ASICs, and ASSPs designs in networking, communication, I/O processing nodes, servers, wireless network controllers, and other applications where high-performance IO interfaces are required," said Farhad Mafie, president and CEO of the Savant Company Inc and SoC Conference organizer. "We are very delighted to have the RapidIO Trade Association's sponsorship and participation in this targeted and informative System-on-Chip (SoC) Conference and Exhibit."

    • Iain Scott will present a technical paper, RapidIO Technology: From Interconnect to Full Featured Fabric which was authored by Eran Strod of Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. on Tuesday, October 25th beginning at 8:00 a.m. Visit http://www.gspx.com/GSPX/2005/index.php for details.

  • 3rd International System-on-Chip (SoC) Conference & Exhibit: Held November 1-2, 2005 at the Radisson Hotel Newport Beach, Calif., the 3rd International SoC Conference & Exhibit will provide insights into SoC issues and an opportunity to challenge the experts with design and application questions and learn about the future direction of System-on-Chip.
